LocalLive Privacy Policy
LocalLive is built by one person, and the short version of this policy is: the app uses your location to find events near you, sends that location to Ticketmaster's API to get results, and stores nothing about you on any server of mine. Here's the longer version.
Location
Finding nearby events is the whole point of the app, so LocalLive asks for permission to use your device's location. Here's exactly how that works:
- When it's accessed: only while you're using the app, when it needs to search for events near you. LocalLive does not track your location in the background.
- What it's used for: your coordinates are used as the center point of an event search — "what's happening near here" — and nothing else.
- Where it goes: your coordinates are sent to the Ticketmaster Discovery API (over HTTPS) as a search parameter, so Ticketmaster can return events near you. That's the only place your location goes.
- What I keep: nothing. I don't run any servers for LocalLive, so your location is never stored, logged, or seen by me. No location history is kept anywhere by the app beyond the current search.
You can also deny location access and the app will still work — you just won't get "near me" results automatically.
Ticketmaster as a data source
All event listings in LocalLive come from the Ticketmaster Discovery API. When you search, the app sends your location (or a place you typed in) and your search parameters to Ticketmaster, and Ticketmaster sends back matching events. That request is between your device and Ticketmaster directly — it doesn't pass through any server of mine.
Ticketmaster processes those requests under its own privacy policy, which you can read here: ticketmaster.com/privacy. If you tap through to buy tickets, that happens on Ticketmaster's site or app, under their terms — LocalLive isn't involved in the purchase and never sees any payment information.
Exactly what leaves your device
- Your approximate or precise coordinates (depending on the level of location access you grant in iOS), sent over HTTPS to the Ticketmaster Discovery API when you search for nearby events.
- Your search parameters (things like a search radius, date range, or a keyword you typed).
That's the complete list. There are no developer servers, no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics or advertising SDKs, and no data is sold or shared with anyone other than the API request to Ticketmaster described above.
What the app stores on your device
Preferences like your search radius or saved searches live locally on your phone. Delete the app and they're gone. I have no way to access them.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of LocalLive changes any of the above — a new data source, for example — I'll update this policy first and change the effective date at the top.
